Park City Trail Series

Are you looking for something new? Is road running becoming monotonous and boring? Are you looking to change up your routine but want to stay running? The Park City Trail Series is a 4-race series designed to introduce new trail runners to the sport. The series is a 5k, 10k, 15k, and 13.1 All of the events are on the Round Valley Trails in Park City, Utah. Due to the ease of terrain, these trail runs are designed with beginner users in mind. However, with well marked courses and the regularly placed aid stations, these races are also great speed training for more advanced trail users.

Starting in June and ending in September you run a series of increasing longer races once a month. Perfectly spaced for training adaption and stunning in scenery, the Park City Trail Series transports you from running around the city block to striding through the beauties of nature.

Each race features a Park City Trail Series signature pint glass with a native animal logo as a reminder that nature isn’t far away!  Series finishers will receive a set of 4 coasters with the series logo for each of your series pint glasses.

The first 150 people to register for the full series will receive a $20 The North Face gift certificate valid at any Salt Lake Running Company location. Series is limited to 500 runners.

Dogs, Other Trail Users, & Wildlife

Dogs: Your favorite running buddy will be allowed to run by your side during all of the Park City Trail Series Events. However, your dog is required to be leashed at all times, before, during, and after the event. Owners of unleashed dogs will be disqualified from the race and will not be eligible for prizes.

Other Trail Users: We do have a permit to be using these trails but they are not reserved for us and they are not closed to other users. Please be courteous when passing mountain bikers, other runners, or dogs.

Wildlife: As race directors, we are constantly scoping these courses and watching for changes in the trails. In all of our time in Round Valley we have come across a variety of wildlife including birds of prey, a porcupine, deer, moose, and a pack of coyotes. Wildlife doesn’t want to be bothered so if you encounter wildlife, the best thing to do is back away non-aggressively. Consider yourself lucky if you get to see these normally-hidden creatures!

Safety: Safety is first priority for the Park City Trail Series. If for any reason, runners need assistance in making it back to the start/finish area, volunteers placed along the course will be able to radio to the finish area for help. As runners pick up their bib numbers at the start area, they will be “checked out.” Once a runner crosses the finish line and the bib tag is pulled, the runner will be “checked in” and will be accounted for. This will help to ensure all runners return safely back to the finish line.

Start Time: All four events will all start at 8:00 am. We pride ourselves on starting on time.

Aid Stations: Every race has aid stations stocked with water and disposable cups approximately every 1.5-2 miles. For more specific information aid station locations, visit the course info page.

Due to the nature of the courses all aid station materials must be mountain biked on/off the course. Therefore, there will be water along the course but runners are expected to carry their own electrolytes and gels. Nuun will be available at the start area. Runners wishing to carry electrolytes with them may fill their water bottles with Nuun before the race begins.

There will be disposable cups given at each aid station. We ask that you are conscious of where you throw your cup after you use it. Because of the terrain, trash has the tendency to cover a large area in a short period of time. Instead of dropping your cup on the ground, like you would at a road race, we ask that throw it in the garbage bag or hand it to a volunteer.

Milage Markers and Trail Directions

Mileage will be marked at every mile. Directions at all trail junctions will also be marked. In fact, our trails are so well marked that in the 3 years and 10 events that we have put on, only one runner has missed a turn (and she blamed it on her music). People even tell us our races are more well marked and easier to navigate than road races! All markers will be staked into the ground on the side of the trail.

Check out the course info page to view a map and GPS profile of each course.

Post-Race Info: The runner’s finish area will be nothing less than first class. Food for the post-event area features local vendors. Water and Nuun will also be provided at the finish area.

Cancellation: In the event that a registered runner can not attend, no refunds will be allowed. Cancellations will be handled through our registration website and partial credits will be given to participants that can be used for any of our events in the following 12 months.

In the event that weather prevents the event from taking place, the event will be canceled with the possibility rescheduling; no refunds will be given.
