Canyonlands Half Marathon & 5 Mile

March 20 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

2021 Event Update
Yes! We do plan to host this event in 2021!!

Grand County currently has special event attendee mandates in place, based on the Utah Department of Health risk assessment level. Because of these mandates, we have limited our numbers to meet the high risk assessment limits. We will add additional spots to the event two weeks out, if the risk  assessment is at moderate or low. See our social media pages or subscribe to our newsletter for the most updated information. We will not allow additional runners into the event once it sells out.

We plan to host this event. Grand County has mandates in place, which allow for special events to happen. To meet new Covid guidelines, the course will be out and back this year. We will start and finish at Lions Park. Because shuttles are not possible, participants must walk to the starting line. There is a foot bridge from Lions Park to the Springhill Suites and Fairfield Inn. Only those staying at the Springhill Suites and Fairfield Inn may park in that parking lot. All other cars will be towed at the owner’s expense. All runners can utilize paved path through town to get to the race start. Parking is available at Helen M. Knight Elementary School. It is a 2.2 mile walk from the school. There are lodging options along Hwy 191, near Lions Park as well. Of course, as guidelines change so may our plans.

About Canyonlands Half Marathon and 5 Mile

The first Canyonlands Half Marathon was run on May 1, 1976 had just 22 finishers, including a dog. Today, thousands of runners come together in March to enjoy the scenic red rock formations and winding Colorado River that Moab has come to be known for! Running parallel to Arches National Park and the Mighty Colorado, runners are in for a real treat. Long considered a “Bucket List” race, Canyonlands Half Marathon was named by Runners World UK, in their article “The Worlds Greatest Races,”  in the July 2018 issue.
